Don't Call Us Evil

We are Vampires, Therians, Otherkin and the magically inclined. We are not evil. We are different, not freaks, not the damned. We are not the fiction you see on TV. We are not crazy, psycho or in a dream world. Do not judge us, do not call us names or harass us. We respect others and their right to their own beliefs and opinions. Respect us, and we will respect you. We are your friends, family, neighbors and the person walking down the street. You've probably passed by us, talked to us, shaken hands with us, read our work or watched us on TV. We usually look like normal people. You may be drawn to us, notice something different about us, but you can't figure out exactly what. We are actors, writers, poets, artists, musicians, business owners and teachers. You've known us, then treated us differently when you find out our true natures. It's not something we can change, nor should we have to. Be kind to us, try to understand that like everyone, we are individuals. We are not the pop-fiction immortals you read about in books or see in movies. We can be hurt and get sick. We can be killed in any way you can. We eat food, drink, attend school and go to work. We go out during the day. We shop, vote and enjoy entertainment. We are bound by the law, have a sense of ethics and are members of the community. Get to know us before you form your opinion. You may find we have a lot more in common than you had previously thought. You may find new friends within our numbers. Most importantly, let us live our lives in peace as we let you live yours.
